When I posted a couple of days ago about my cranberry scones, Tammy at Tammy's In Love commented that she makes White Chocolate Cranberry Scones with Devonshire Cream! Yum!
So for breakfast, I served my scone up with thick cream and honey.
A perfect addition to my morning cup of coffee.
We've had lovely cloud cover today which helped to buffer the heat. It still got up to 115 degrees, but didn't feel quite so bad when I got out there to water plants on both balconies.
Even though some have completely dried up due to the heat, I still continue to water them because you just never know what will pop up, and fortunately, something always does.
And sometimes tiny green leaves will begin to unfurl on a plant that you thought was long gone.

Nature often holds up a mirror so we can see more clearly the ongoing processes of growth, renewal, and transformation in our lives.

ReplyDeleteYummy breakfast, and what a lovely feeling to see something sprout. We recently had a parsley plant that a monarch catapillar chewed down to nothing. I continued to water the plant regardless, and yesterday, beloved leaves appeared. Hope the rest of your day brings happiness too!

I love a cranberry scone. Yours look delicious! And it's hot and dry here--not as bad as you--but it is amazing how our flowers and plants wither and just about give it up, but when the cooler weather and rain comes, they get renewed and towards, fall, can really flourish up to the time when the frost finishes them off.

ReplyDeleteI don't know how one ever gets used to those temperatures which are normal for your area... here they are not so normal but it's been one of the hottest summers on record of course. I did go out for my walk today since it has cooled down to 90 today and the breeze felt wonderful.

ReplyDeleteWell you didn't show up with the scones so today I baked my own, ha! ha! My girlfriend came over with her little daughter - we had lunch together and I baked fresh raspberry scones this morning. That 5 y.o. ate 3 scones (+ a cheese quesadilla) and said they were very yummy!
ReplyDeleteI love it when I spy new bright green shoots when one thinks the plants gone - makes you realize with a little effort, a bit of a struggle, and some TLC, much can be accomplished in life.

Your breakfast looks so yummy. I just can't imagine 115 degrees being cooler than anything! It is amazing that anything grows after that horrible heat. Diane

ReplyDeletePlants are amazing, aren't they. They are so resilient! I am a die-hard as well and will water/tend/care for a dried up plant for a very long time!

ReplyDeleteWow, the heavy cream is out of our diets since the open heart surgery and also since I had high cholesterol. But you enjoy yours, as long as you can. I've eaten always heavy whipped cream, crème fraîche, mascarpone, you name it. But not any more. Not for weight control but for other issues.
Indeed, plants often do surprise us in many ways. Don't give up too soon and they may reward you for it.
You top our temperatures, hope you manage to live through it. Is it going down after August or does it continue in your region?

ReplyDeleteIt's great that some of your plants come back with some greens. Your scones look very yummy as well as the muffins and cookies you made some days ago. You are such an avid baker. I really should bake something today too.

ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea...cream and honey...yummo! I made an English lemon cake last night in honor of the Olympics (and because I love it...it's like a pound cake drenched in lemon). I've posted about it before but I've never made scones! What an English tribute! Maybe I need to make some of those...I'm thinkin'!
ReplyDeleteP.S. I'm like you...I keep watering...I never give up on my plants. I keep watering long after they're gone. Also, yes, I love "overcast" too. If I can't have rain, I'll take overcast any day! LOL!
