Happy Easter!

I hope everyone has a blessed and beautiful Easter day. Most years, the Easter holiday coincides with our Spring Break at school but since it is so late this year, it is a regular school day around here.

I made bunny rabbit sugar cookies yesterday. Those little bunny ears and the foot sure were hard to cut out.

The leftover dough was formed into egg shapes that the kids sort of decorated with icing. They tasted better than they looked.


Growing up, my Easters were always spent at my Mammaw's in Mississippi. Lots of food, an egg hunt in the backyard, churning homemade banana ice cream. My Aunt Betty made the best potato salad ever. Her secret was lots of black pepper. Since that time, I've added green pepper and a bit of mustard to my potato salad after a friend's mom made it that way.

Potato salad always makes me think of my Aunt Betty and the family gatherings of Easter past. I hope you have a wonderful day with family and friends. Easter blessings, Tammy

    This is lovely, Tammy. The cookies are cute and I'll bet - very yummy and the potato salad looks great as well. Here, our Noontime dinner is traditional Ham, Scalloped Potatoes & Carrotts, Peas, Devilled Eggs, Olives/Pickles, Dinner rolls, and Dad's Million-Dollar Pie. :)

    I made those exact same cookies yesterday! My grandson will "decorate" them today.:)
    The potato salad looks wonderful. I always the designated (sp?) potato salad maker in the family. Great memories you have, Tammy.

    Banana ice cream? Potato salad (I add mustard, too)? Now THAT sounds good!
    We always had ham. I'm not a fan of it so it wasn't something I looked forward to growing up. I'd rather have had spaghetti! haaaaa

    We had snow this morning here in Colorado....2" of the white fluffy stuff. It's all gone now and the birdies are singing up a storm. Haven't seen the bunny yet, so hope he didn't get frost-bitten!

    Hats.....loved your story. My summer hat collection is ball caps, and with my hair so short it looks like I don't have any hair. Nice look Jan! haaaaa

    The boys did a great job of glopping the frosting on those cookies! :)

    Happy Easter Tammy! I like to hear about childhood memories. So sweet. My mom makes the best potato salad I have ever had. Green peppers sound like a nice addition. I will have to try that sometime.

    Love that you spent your day baking and decorating cookies. I am thinking of doing the same today with the boys, but not sugar cookies for sure. I am going to try oatmeal cookies with whole wheat flour, ground flaxseed and agave nectar! Should be interesting.
    Loved your stories about growing up. Easter for us was always interesting, because we did not know if it was going to be sunny and warm, or snow on the ground.
    I think your potato salad is my favorite one ever. Hope you enjoyed it!!!

    Happy Easter to you and your family. Your memories of Easter in the South are very similar to mine. We went to Mama's and spent the day (after church of course) hunting eggs with cousins. Many times we made home-made ice cream. Just this afternoon, I told my hubby that for Mother's Day, I wanted the family to come over for home-made ice cream. We have a vintage freezer from his mother.

    My mother used to put mustard in potato salad too. I grew up in the same general part of the country as you. Went to college in MS.
