First Day, Fresh Start

Hello everyone.

Did you do anything for New Year's Eve?

My husband snoozed right through the midnight fireworks show courtesy of several neighbors.
I was in bed but hadn't yet fallen asleep so went out on the balcony to watch. Capturing photos of flickering, flashing lights at night isn't an easy thing to do.
We were greeted by the moon on this first morning of the new year.
Had oatmeal with flaxmeal and strawberries along with green tea for a healthy start.
And then for lunch we went to our favorite Lebanese restaurant.
Cloud watching.
Bird watching.

And a bit of plalking (picking up litter while walking) on my afternoon stroll.
I've decided that I shall do my very best to focus on being joyful, peaceful, purposeful and hopeful in 2021.

Sending much light and love your way.
Happy New Year!

That sounds like a wonderful way to start out the new year Tammy. Dennis was in bed by 9:00, but then he was at work at 5:30 am so I can't blame him. I made it until 11:00 and we both woke up to fireworks at midnight.
Today will be quiet, reading, knitting and maybe watching a movie. We ended up with 12 1/2 inches of snow on Wednesday so it's pretty messy outside right now.
Happy New Year my dear friend.
Blessings and hugs,
Betsy

We did not do anything special for New Year's Eve. Steve was on-call, but thankfully, no fire calls last night and he went to be right after midnight.

I stayed up a little later. There were firecrackers outside, but even they stopped by 12:15 or so.

Woke up to a cold, grey, rainy morning. Got our second shingles shots and now it is time for a nice cup of tea and some knitting.

Well, it's 11:30 PM in your area of the world, so I'm guessing your day is over and you're in bed now. Looks like you had a nice first day of the new year. It's only 2:30 PM here and so far we've had a lovely breakfast (we usually have oatmeal with fruit and nuts every day, but had a once in awhile different breakfast today - scrambled eggs with spinach and toast), a 2 mile hike in the snowy State Park down the road from our house, soup and raw veggies with hummus for lunch...hubby just took a hot bath and I'm next. I'm in the middle of making dinner...a big pot of red beans with onions, peppers, celery and garlic that need to simmer on the stove for several hours. I'll make the rice later. When I'm all done here with the cooking and my bath, then I'm going to relax and read for awhile. I want it to be a low-key, relaxing day.

Happy New Year to you and your husband!

Enjoyed your New Years pictures. My dearest and I watch two movies, "Togo" and "Areonots" and at midnight, had our own private communion. oyster cracker and blackberry wine. A prayer for the new year. It was special!

I had to laugh when you showed the bird and the caption was "bird watching" it looked more like "bird watching Tammy". :LOL! I am totally with you on having a positive outlook for the next year. It will begin for me on Jan 20th when the orange menace is eradicated from the White House. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

Dearest Tammy,
Too bad that my comment from yesterday did not go through...
Have figured out that now we must click 'I'm not a robot...'
Can you believe that those champagne corks we used for practicing the harvesting of mushroom? They look identical and are also the size of small button mushrooms. Still got several of them... We would place them on pins and then taught how to carefully twist them off between the tip of your index finger and thumb etc. Lining them all up along your thumb.
Love that embroidery!
We both were in bed way before midnight and Pieter never noticed the fireworks here in our neighborhood either. Glad that our kitties were all inside and remained calm!
And the thick, fluffy bird. How they really can expand their down and look so big during winter time.
Your choice for lunch at the Lebanese restaurant sure looks like a good one.
Happy and Healthy New Year to you both! Also to your sons... far away. We know the feeling too well.
Hugs,
Mariette

Happy New Year Tammy!
We've been with our best friends, chatting and laughing and catching up! We usually throw a big party where we get together (we are 5 couples that get together and do things (celebrate) collectively), but this year, gatherings of more than 4 were forbidden in my country so we adhered to that. I pray this thing gets over, so that we can resume normal life...

Tammy - Happy New Year! I am always so impressed with your quick cross-stitch projects! Most of mine take a LONG time. We did not stay up for midnight since we were working at the ski resort on New Year's Day. I think your "resolution" for 2021 are superb choices!
