Painted Sky

Before heading to Denver, we stayed overnight with my dear friend Angela in New Orleans again.  The evening we arrived, we headed to the store for some refreshments and upon returning home, were greeted with this beautiful sunset just over the levee at the end of her street.
The very same levee that flooded during Katrina and displaced so many, including Angela.
 
 Needless to say, I rushed up the hill with my camera to get the full view.  Angela was laughing at how awestruck I was.  She said they see sunsets like that all the time and take them for granted.
There's a sunrise and a sunset every single day, and they're absolutely free. Don't miss so many of them.

Where you see the wood sticking up from the water, there used to be little weekend fishing shacks that have never been rebuilt.
Peaches did a happy little dance for us as we watched the sunset sky,
A reminder to be joyful and savor every moment.

    We should never be blase about nature, it is just simply the most wonderful thing. Every leaf, flower, bird etc has its place in the world and should be appreciated.

    Awesome sunset. It's hard to believe now that there was once so much devastation from Katrina. Mother Nature is a force to be reckoned with....she shares her beauty at times and then she shows her anger at others. Great pictures!!

    Those are gorgeous pictures Tammy. How amazing is each sunrise and sunset. No matter where I travel, I always try to see them. Peaches is a real cutie.

    The best we watched was in Acapulco... awesome but this sky looks like a poem.
    Yes, we all do take things for granted that we have around for frequent enjoyment.

    . . . . . . and to think it will be 10 years this Saturday since Katrina hit New Orleans and the Gulf Coast!!! Where has all that time gone? Your sunset photos are just gorgeous Tammy - so sorry Angela was displaced but glad to know she has been able to move back. Know you must have had a wonderful visit - 'the Big Easy' is a great city.

    That sunset was glorious and one of the things I miss seeing. I can see partial but not the wide open view I was used to up North. Awesome! There are so many trees here I can't see much of anything. Katrina's 10 year anniversary was just this past week. It is still difficult for some and so many lost everything and everybody. Hopefully nothing like that will ever happen again.
