I went in to work for just a short while this morning and on the way home made a quick detour to The Secret Garden.
My mission was to see if the two crocheted strips I've created so far would fit around the tree after an earlier test proved the biggest one had not yet reached the right size.
Of course, I can't do this on my own, so had to grab the first friendly person I found to help out. Thankfully, there was a guy there raking and though he didn't speak English, he was happy to assist.
Both pieces are now bigger than they need to be so there will be some adjusting. We've planned another meet-up for this coming Saturday so hopefully we will have a lot more squares to join and be even closer to getting this project finished.
These recycled tires are just waiting for the Fall when planting can begin again.
In the meantime, our yarnbombing will add some much needed color to the area.
Have a wonderful day.

The garden looks great and how beautiful is your yarnbombing! Wow, it came out great. I hope you all enjoy it.

I love the idea of yarn bombing. The local library - well, actually the library in an adjoining town - did some wonderful yarn bombing a couple of years ago. On the railing, around the trees, on benches. Good luck!

Dearest Tammy,
ReplyDeleteSuch yarnbombing is looking a lot more beautiful than trashing or whatsoever in the environment!
Sending you hugs and enjoy the project.

Your yarn bombing strips look great. Just a little adjusting and soon you'll begin the acual "bombing" itself. What a great thing to uplift community spirit.

Yarmbombing! Hurray! It always brings a smile to anyone who passes it. I am sure it will appreciated by all and well worth all the hard work!
ReplyDeleteOh my GOSH! Did I miss a post on the Secret Garden? Is it going to be a place for artists' work to be shown? So cool. I love all the colors in your tree "skirt." Pizzazzy. Fabulous. Susan
ReplyDeleteYour yarn bombing certainly will add some colour! I wonder what that man thought when you asked him to hold your crochet around a tree while you photographed it!! Something for him to tell everyone about all day no doubt! He will appreciate it though when he sees it all finished! xx
ReplyDeleteYour creation will be the perfect finishing touch on this secret garden!
ReplyDeleteHi Tammy,
ReplyDeleteThe garden looks like a very interesting and fun project. I read your earlier post about being able to leave your job at the school and I'm very happy for you. I'd love nothing more than to be able to volunteer more. One day....
Stay well!
