Breakfast and a Bookstore

With our weekend being Friday and Saturday, Sunday was actually the first official day of Spring Break. We talked about a short getaway, and I do love to travel, but sometimes it is nice to just stay at home.
Staycations are an opportunity to connect with friends during the week without being rushed, 
and still have time at home to do all the things I want to do.
Yesterday morning I enjoyed a simple, but delicious South Indian breakfast with my friend, Samantha.  This branch of the Udupi restaurants isn't the nicest one, but you can't beat the price of an Indian breakfast.
 
 
 Afterwards, we headed over to a secondhand bookstore that I had heard about but never been to. Apparently it is Samantha's secret getaway to relax and read in peace and quiet for at least a couple of hours every week.
The book store has a very inconspicious entry but the interior is absolutely delightful.  Quotes are found in the stairwell that leads down to the basement which is filled to the brim with books. 
 
 
 
Such a lovely, cozy, inviting atmosphere.
And of course, I came away with three wonderful little books.
I've already read A Short Guide to a Happy Life -- it really is short, but speaks a simple truth. I believe living a simple life and practicing daily random acts of kindness will most certainly result in a happy life.

    Lunch looks yummy. I love that book store. I love going to a bookstore that you can sit and read. You can't find many of those anymore.
    Staycations sometimes are the best. Sometimes, not, hah.

    I agree; sometimes a staycation is much more relaxing. Your first day sounds lovely. What a wonderful bookstore! I could spend a whole week there :-)

    Indian food and a bookstore, two of my favorite things. The book store seems almost secretive or hidden away, so doubly nice to discover it. I want to read the Quindlan book, it sounds like one I could give as a gift.

    Such a cozy book shop and one where leaving would be hard. Colorful and inviting. Sure wouldn't know from the entrance though.

    So glad your staycation is off to a good start, Tammy! My husband and I had a new/used bookstore in upstate NY for five years and I have a great fondness for such well run and charming places like you visited.
    If you could see all the books that follow me home...oh my :-) Random acts of kindness are wonderful and I hope I can get better at performing them...thanks for the reminder. xx

    What a lovely day out. We stayed at home for spring break, too, (my husband kept working) but I enjoyed puttering at home and in the garden.
    That looks like a wonderful little bookstore and you came away with some gems. Hope you enjoy the remainder of your break.

    Bookstores are my favorite thing right up there with cross stitch shops. I have so many books on my Kindle, I promised myself I would read them before buying more. HA! We have a great used book store in the next town and I took back several paperbacks and ended up with $35 in credit so of course I had to spend it. That book store looks fantastic. I love on the sayings on the way.

    You are wise as we just got back from a lovely 6-day vacation in Arizona but you pay the price for it when coming home. So much to do!

    I do love a secondhand bookstore! Tammy, if you part your hair down the middle and gather it into 2 symmetrical bundles, secured with a band, these are bunches! If you divide each "bunch" into 3 and weave them together, these are "plaits" - I think you might call them "braids"? In Scotland they are "pleats". In England, a "pigtail" is a plait/braid. Two nations divided by a common language!

    I love libraries! I just can't control myself when I am at one, and no matter how much I try to borrow books as fast as I can - I always manage to lose myself for a couple of hours :)

    Oh, I am making naan bread as we speak, for the first time..I'm excited. My daughter and her husband cook a lot of Indian food as they have Indian friends.
