Christmas in Dubai

My husband had business meetings in Dubai on Christmas Day so I was fortunate to tag along for the ride.  We left Wednesday afternoon and returned Friday night, but even a quick trip there is refreshing.  There is a sense of freedom you don't find here.  My husband says the country could survive alone on the money generated from tourism.  It has a true international feel and they certainly know how to invite people in and show them a good time.
On Christmas Eve there were carolers in the lobby of our hotel and Santa could even be found in the Japanese restaurant where we ate dinner.
Everywhere we went there were trees and lights and Christmas greetings.

I hope you all had a lovely celebration with family and friends.
Happy holidays,

  10. Tammy, how great to see that amazing place during the holiday season! They really went all out by the looks of the decorations - and I see you hit one of the magnificent malls. Did you splurge on something special?

I'll never forget my visit to Dubai - I thought it such an amazing place and I would love to visit again some day. . . . . with a very large bag full of cash, haha!

Sending best wishes to you and your family for a healthy, happy and blessed New Year.

  18. Dearest Tammy,
Glad you had a lovely Christmas period and Dubai sounds like an exotic and great place to be. We have fondest memories of our time in Singapore around Christmas! Also Jakarta looked like a fairytale around Christmas time.
We had a quiet time here at home, only midnight Mass and on Christmas day it was sunny so we had a long walk together. When we got home we spotted 9 huge Turkey Vultures up in the trees, across from us and there were about four of them on the ground. Hacking on an entire rack of ribs that somebody must have lost (?). Our cats were very courageous for chasing those vultures off. I was scared they would hack into them but obviously they only are after carrion... Posted about it tonight, also a short video.
Sending you hugs from a warm and pleasant Georgia; we walked with 22°C this afternoon!
