The Rains Came

A friend of my husband's sent this image taken in the early morning hours.
Apparently there was quite a lightning show while I was sleeping.
Although there were a lot of clouds this morning, it looked pretty good out there.
I had high hopes that the storm had bypassed us.
But just before the end of school, the sky let loose.
Zack and I were soaked by the time we got to the car.
And streets had already begun to flood because of clogged sewage drains.
A couple of friends sent pictures from their areas.
And lots of videos have been circulating of major flooding in some parts of the country.
There are people who do crazy things when water is involved.
And some people just don't know how to stay home when the roads are a mess so there's been lots of sirens all afternoon and evening.

This all, of course, is nothing compared to what happened in the Philippines.
A friend messaged that in Illinois there were tornadoes.
And Melanie at Comfy House said that a little town 3 hours from her was totally devastated.
Seems to be lots of crazy weather at the moment.
Praying for calm days ahead and relief to all affected.
Blessings,

  3. These are great photos of the coming storm. Hopefully you were spared any flooding damage to your home. People here get nutty when we get our first major snowstorms. It takes a few tries before everyone remembers how to drive in wintertime. But even though we have to shovel it, I think I'd prefer lots of snow to lots of rain & floods. Take care Tammy! Wendy x

  4. Amazing pictures of the storm and I'm glad you're safe and sound. Yes, the weather seems to be crazy these day. I friend of ours lives just outside a town in Illinois that was totally devastated in a tornado this past weekend. So sad and the Phillipines too.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  5. Yikes, Tammy. That was quite a deluge. It's been Indian summer here....balmy even.

But the face-freezing weather will be here soon enough.

    Thanks for your visits. Susan

  10. Oh Tammy, sorry for the storms and flooding, but the sky pictures are just stunning.

We had some storms in the US too, and one tornado touched down 30 miles from our grandson's college. Yikes...prayers for safety!!

  11. That first photo is beautiful! I am so glad you are safe and that your drive home was uneventful Tammy. Mother Nature seems to be letting loose everywhere. I was sick when the Typhoon hit and now the awful tornados that took so many homes.
stay safe dear and hugs from here...

  18. Oh, Tammy! I am glad your family is safe! Indeed, some strange weather these days all over the world. We also saw Philippines, and America's tornado on TV yesterday. Heart breaking, I cannot imagine how people who lost their homes, and close ones might be feeling now... :(

  19. Dearest Tammy,
That first photo I like a lot better than the last ones... Better stay away when the rains are that heavy. We cannot win from Mother Nature.
It's not so much that we have lots of crazy weather at the moment, or any moment that is. But with our multi media we get it rubbed into our eyes instantly and that makes it appear like lots of... Statistically it always has been like this, more or less but with more dense population that ads to the casualties and it IS devastating for anyone involved.
Indeed praying for calmer times in this entire big and simultaneously small world.
    Hugs,
    Mariette

  22. Wow, Tammy! those are some amazing photos! it is strange to think of how damaging water, wind and fire can all be. Here in AZ. when it rains really hard, the desert just can not absorb any more moisture and it just rushes into the collection areas...hoping everyone stays safe!
