As much as I enjoyed my walks last week, I had to stop. I have an allergy to the sun that causes me to break out in itchy, red bumps that take weeks to heal. Very aggravating!
Although I can't enjoy the sun, my moss roses certainly do. Each and every morning, their little pink blooms pop out to say hello and then close up when the heat of the day settles in.

Since I'm stuck inside, instead of doing what I should be doing (cleaning/organizing), I am doing what I like to do (crochet, cross-stitch, cooking, baking, blogging).
Recently, Val at Yarni Gras posted about the jar covers she crocheted that were partly inspired by some I made in the past. It's nice to inspire others and then find that you are once again inspired to create.
Recycled jars are getting new life with cotton yarn in pretty colors.
And last month, LaTeaDah at Gracious Hospitality posted the daisy dishcloths she was crocheting that were inspired by my March post entitled Chocolate, Crochet and Tea. She is still happily crocheting away and inspired me to make more, too.
Obviously I wasn't really paying attention when I made these.
Same pattern, different sizes. I think I got a little carried away.
Even though I really didn't need to, I swung by the craft store the other day for more yarn.
More yarn = more projects.
That means I need to get to work!

Tammy I just love love love those jars. What a great idea. I love your yarn shop too. Mine does not have the selection of colors as yours which can be very frustrating when wanting to make a project.

ReplyDeleteI get a rash from the sun too - but don't have to worry about that too much up here in the Pacific Northwest - I go everywhere in my sunhat though - even on cloudy days.

I love the colorful jars, I am planning a crochet project, a little change from all of the quilting. I have been inside with my husband who is doing well after surgery, reading inspiring blogs gives me a little boost.

Hi Tammy, I'm sorry about your allergy. It's good that you are so creative and know how to entertain yourself while staying inside.
ReplyDeleteYou've been so busy crocheting, embroidering and baking. The short bread and your cakes look very yummy. We have lots of fruit trees in the garden and now it's plum time. So I've been baking several plum cakes and yesterday hubby made plum ice cream. A friend gave me recipe for a plum sauce that I still have to try.
Your crochet and embroidery projects are fabulous. Since you had asked, how about some buttons on the empty space of the coffee can? I'm in the mood to crochet something but haven't found a good yarn shop yet.

ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you got sun poisoning. My MIL used to get that and had to stay out of the sun. Not sure what causes it (well, the sun) or why some get it and others don't. But at least now I don't feel so guilty about not walking in less heat than you have! LOL!
Yes, blogs are so inspiring especially when you don't have access to shops and places that are inspiring like me. Oh, how I yearn for a yarn shop or a book store but alas...I am blessed to have the internet!

OUCH on the allergy! My (eldest) son has an allergy to heat which can affect him all year round. He doesn't so much 'break-out' but he is instantly driven crazy with an intense itching all over his body. He has to take daily Telfast allergy medication to help keep it at bay.
