Last Friday

Most Fridays are family day here. It's the only entire day hubby has off so we usually go out for lunch.

Although hubby is not a big fan of pasta, and therefore says he doesn't like Italian food, our oldest son kept telling us about a new restaurant we should try called Viaggio.

From the bread basket to the salad.

To my order of linguine pesto with potatoes, pine nuts and parmesan.

And all the way to dessert, which came with my meal, I did not leave even one morsel, one crumb, one bite behind.

Hubby was happy too because he ordered beef tenderloin.

I looked up their website and it turns out that Viaggio in Italian translates to "journey". I can tell you that my tastebuds certainly were taken on a wonderful culinary journey.

There are locations in Chicago, Saratoga, CA, Germany and, of course, Italy. I will definitely be going back again. I think the risotto is calling my name.

Hope you have a fantastic Friday and a wonderful weekend. Best wishes and blessings, Tammy

  1. Making me feel hungry, like works of art, presented so beautifully and I am sure tasted even better. Lovely way to spend your family day. You made me smile with your numbers and age. My daughter just had her 30th, did I feel that, how the years fly by.
Thanks for the comment Tammy. Have a good weekend and relax and enjoy some crafting. Millyx

  10. Love the yummy photos and thanks for the recommendation. Now I have to look that up - Chicago eh - since we're on the hunt for a really special place to surprise Sarah with her 16th Birthday dinner. Not until December 10th, but plans are already in the midst. Shhhh...... it's a weekend surprise extravaganza. ;)

Hope you have a wonderful weekend. I'm looking forward to ours beginning. Jim is driving to Toronto right from work today, so he will be gone until Sunday night, but Sarah and I will be here - well sort of here. Outside of going to dinner with my parents tonight at the Knights of Columbus Fish Fry, I probably won't see her much as she has great plans for this "Halloween Weekend" with her friends. That's fine with me - will give me some hopefully quiet time in between to get some things done around the house.

  17. I'm sitting here eating Rye toast with grape jelly. There is something wrong here.........

I would SO eat there, Tammy! The food and the presentation is DIVINE! And you were a good girl to eat every bite!

Again, I'm amazed at the wonderful places you have to choose from. I'd be a couple of sizes larger if I lived there!

    Warm hugs

  20. Hi Tammy,

Lovely that you can have a Friday Family day and go out for lunch. I enjoyed seeing the yummy looking food you had. We normally do the same over here - go out for Friday lunch.
You asked about the icing on the banana cake - it is lemon. Icing sugar, mixed with the juice of half a lemon or enough to taste and then a knob of softened butter and then just mix up until creamy.
Hope that you have a wonderful weekend
    Hugs
    Carolyn

  24. Dearest Tammy,

That looked so delicious and yes, it is 'travel' in Italian. Did you thank your eldest son for this hint? Even your husband was pleased with it. Often we just have to try.
At home I often make risotto, love it!
Enjoy the new week for you and love to you,

    Mariette
