Simple Pleasure: Instant Chocolate Pudding

When I was pregnant with my first son, my favorite snack was Jello instant chocolate pudding topped with salted peanuts. I would sit in bed at night, place the bowl on my belly, and watch in delight as Yusef would literally kick around in there and move the bowl from left to right.

For some reason, many years ago, all Jello products went off the grocery store shelves never to return again. The other day, a friend gave me four boxes of instant pudding that someone had given her -- 2 chocolate and 2 vanilla. They are a Meijer brand which is a grocery store chain in Michigan where my aunt lives. Stores are also located in Illinois, Indiana, Ohio and Kentucky.

I added some peanuts and a bit of coconut for a sweet treat to start the weekend.

Did you ever make that old recipe with instant pudding topped with cool whip and a pecan crust? I think it was called "Better Than Sex". lol

  11. Oooh ... yum! I love chocolate pudding. I generally top mine with pecans and Cool Whip. I'll have to try peanuts and coconut. I can't believe you don't have Jell-O products in your stores. Not cool.

  24. Oh goodness... I hope Jello pudding never goes off the market here. I'd be sunk because it's a favorite, favorite treat. In fact, when I opened this thumbnail, I started smiling in anticipation.

Now, I've never even thought to add peanuts. I'm imagining the taste right now, and YUM.

  28. It's funny the cravings we get. I craved apple crisp with my first. One time I even ate a square pan full by myself :)

Chocolate pudding sounds good. Before I had kids I didn't even like chocolate, now I can't seem to get enough. I wonder why that is.
