City Tour

The largest city in Sri Lanka is Colombo. Formerly known as Ceylon, it was once ruled by the Portuguese, Dutch and British as is evidenced in its architecture.

On our first day there, we took a city tour by bus.

Once a British hospital, this building is now a museum.

The old Parliament building with a guard on duty.

A beautiful white stone home with gorgeous flowers cascading over the ledge.

This old house was actually a Chinese restuarant and is where we had lunch.

Back at the hotel, while the kids enjoyed a refreshing dip in the pool.

I refreshed myself with one of these. :)

    thank you for sharing! I'm always marveled at the beauty and wonders in corners of the world only know exist because of my geography class! And here I am, learning about it through friends who are lucky enough to be able to go there, and kind enough to share it with the rest of us.

    Beautiful buildings Tammy. WOW, the flowers are so georgeous, too! I think my fav is the old hosipital.

    Oh, and the pool is quite lovely. I can see you sitting there enjoying the kids splashing about....with the Heineken.

    Hope your laundry is done and that you didn't get sick from the trip.

    Ceylon is such a beautiful word...wonder why they changed it? It brings images of Anna and the King, doesn't it?

    Once again, even the look of the buildings is different that I would have expected. Really, the buildings are lovely with so much green and color to decorate them. How wonderful!! It looks like a very relaxing place to be for sure. What were temps like. It had to be better than Kuwait and Doha...
