Good News, Good Day

A 9 am baseball game and this week Zack's team had a big win with a final score of 18-8. As scorekeeper, I always come home with dust and sand from head to toe so a shower was a must. And although we usually go out for lunch on Friday, today seemed like a very good day to stay home.

A bit of crochet on the agenda. Our local craft store is having a sale so I bought pretty pastel colors. (I always roll my yarn into balls before starting a project.)

This granny stripe afghan will be for one of the teachers at school who is due to have her first baby in a few weeks.

Our friend in Spain sent a picture of his first born son and the baby afghan I made for them. Aren't they cute!!

I woke today with a headache and now have a scritchy-scratchy throat. Hot tea ...

and me and the couch are gonna be cozy the rest of the day.

Happy weekend wishes to one and all. Friendship blessings, Tammy

  1. If only I could crochet...I will have to learn someday...even if it is only the easy techniques, but I am eagerly wanting to make an afghan!!
And avocado on your lunch...I want some now!! It's avocado season here in Guatemala, and one can find really good quality at affordable prices. A sign of summer, you know :o)
    Enjoy your weekend!!

  2. Beautiful yarn and great work on the afghans. Hoping your scratchy throat does not go into something else. Love the look of that food. Nothing but snow and gray skies here. Blessings

  3. I've had a scratchy throat and feel something coming on...but I am trying to deny it and hold it at bay with lots of vitamin c, prayer and hope.

I hope you have a cozy day with your yarn. It so fun to stitch up things to give away. The baby blanket is lovely and so nice you got a pic with your friend and his new little one with the blanket.

    Hope you feel better soon.

  6. What a beautiful afghan for your friends baby! I'm so sorry to hear of your headache and scratchy throat. Could it be from the dust?:) Take care and drink lots of tea. Putting honey in your tea soothes the throat too.
Blessings and prayers of health are being sent your way, Tammy.

  12. Looks to me like you have mastered the granny square stitch quite nicely! Lovely!

Oh, that food reminds me so much of my friend from Africa. She is East Indian and I would eat at her home occasionally - with fingers! Lots of the "pancakes" and potatoes and curry....I wish we could get food like that where I live now.

    Lucky you!

  13. Goodness- you are so cute! Thanks for stopping by my blog. I so admire you, being os far away from home. I am beyond blessed to have a whole room to myself, although I have to tell you, I still can't find stuff!! LOL.

As a side note, the song that played on your blog startled me (Blackbird)... I did a page base on this song in my BFF Tammy's round robin book, you can see it on my Flickr page. AND- I have to do a page with the theme "mended" for an altered book swap, and I decided to go this song/route again!!

Have a great weekend, I have to work tomorrow. boo hiss.

I love that you always roll your yarn into a ball but I'm also wondering if there is a reason why?? Your crochet afghans are beautiful!

  24. Hi Tammy,
I hope you're feeling better--and hope the tea worked!!! I was going to tell you what I did with those clothespins...I used one adorable sheet of Victorian hearts from Shabby Cottage--and I got the ones that are downloaded right on the internet, ran them off on the printer, and they were ready to glue on....it's quick, but fun if you've got the clothespins...and I stamped the clothespins with French writing too.

I just saw the movie Eat, Pray, Love--you'd love it!!!

  25. Hi dear Tammy!
cure for the scritchy scratchy throat!
Dip a teaspoon in the honey jar, then place a whole peeled clove of garlic, wrap it in more honey and swallow whole.
Wake up in the am and like magic sore throat all gone!!!
This is such a heart warming post, I just love it and the fact that you are wrapping your friends in the warmth of your blanket made with such love!
Tammy you're one of life gems and it's so good to know you!
    very warm hugs

  27. You must have had a very happy Zack after that game! Good job to the whole team, and the scorekeeper too!! Staying at home on Friday is such a wonderful thing. I ran around more than usual yesterday, and was happy to come home in the evening and do some cross stitching. The afghan is coming together nicely. The colors are perfect for a cute little baby!! You are going to make this teacher a very happy lady.
Glad you had a chance to relax today!!!!
Hope you can kick the stratchy throat back to where it came from!!

    Love,
    Renee
