Gifts from Spain

Yesterday was hot and so humid. The buildings ahead are shrouded in a blanket of heavy humidity at 4 pm.

I went to visit a friend who recently returned from 3 weeks in Canada and 5 weeks in Spain with her husband and daughter. She gifted me with two colorful magnets.

And this beautiful mosaic butterfly wallhanging.

The high temperature today will be 115. Since that calls for indoor activities, doily making is still going on around here.

And I found if I stopped the pattern at about row 6, I get the right size for a coaster.

Blogging, crocheting and cleaning is on the agenda for today. Hope everyone is off to a great start to their week. Peace & blessings, Tammy

  7. Tammy, how lucky for you to have such a thoughtful friend! That mosaic butterfly is absolutely gorgeous!! And I love your doilies. I tried crocheting many years ago, but it didn't suit me. I love the looks of it and am amazed by what people create, but I just can't do it. I can't believe it's going to be 115!!! Stay cool, my friend. My day will be blogging, cleaning and visiting Walmart.

  9. Do you ever experience more mild summertime temps? That would be so discouraging to me since I love being outside so much. It's been one of our hottest summers here but thankfully we haven't seen 115 (only in heat index).

Your friend brought you some lovely gifts :)
And the doilies that you're making are beautiful. Love the color combinations.

    Have a great week,
    Linda

  10. Poor you, still suffering the heat and humidity. Is it unusual for it to be humid there? Such lovely gifts you got... isn't it nice to have friends who think of you?
Hope you stay cool and busy with fun stuff!

  13. Your crochet pieces are so beautiful, Tammy. I opted out of the prayer shawl group at church because all the shawls I crocheted turned out to be trapezoids, not retangles! I grew up with doily making. My mother was always doing some. I admire you for being able to produce such beautiful ones. The magnets and butterfly gifts you show above are gorgeous. I think it's neat that your kitchen also has blue in it. Mine is actually gray, black and white. I accent it with red and green for December through February; blue, yellow and green for spring and summer; and for fall I go for burgundy, orange, golden yellow, and dark green. I love being able to switch colors with the seasons, but cobalt is one of my favorite colors.

  18. With 115 degree temps, I'd say you're doing well to even have the energy to sit and crochet! And I thought it had been miserable hot and humid here this summer.

  20. Hello Tammy...115 degrees, eh? Oh Lordy. I'd die. It was on the chilly side here today and I was HAPPY. Hot weather and me do not get along at all. Cute coasters. Susan

  21. OH BOY!! I am looking at the pictures of the humidity hanging in the air, and I am getting nervous. I would be willing to bet the temps in Doha are hotter, and the humidity is worse. OUCH!!
The magnets are nice, but the butterfly is spectacular. Leslie has wonderful taste.
Your doilies are too cute for words. I was in Michaels yesterday and saw a book that had 12 different patterns to knit and crochet dish clothes. It made me think of you... Maybe I will get it and be inspired to learn to crochet yet...
    Enjoy your day!
    Love,
    Renee

  23. So hot!!! While it's raining nonstop here, and yesterday was strangely cold and windy!! :-o the world is very odd.
Beautiful butterfly! and lovely crocheted doilies!! I was telling my mom over the weekend how much I would love to learn how to crochet. I have NEVER been good with anything that involves yarn and needle (any type of needles), but crochet is something I think I would be OK at with some practice...and I would be able to make my niece something pretty! :-)
have a lovely - hopefully not too hot - day!

  24. Hi Tammy,
You can see the heat in your picture. What lovely coasters.Seeing so much crochet brings back memories of my Grandma, she lived to 102 years and I'm sure being a needlewoman kept her going.
    Best wishes,

  25. Hi Tammy,
How are you doing? Every time I come to your blog there is something bright and cheerful and wonderful!

I love your gifts from your friend...so darling! And I love what you're crocheting!

Your weather is hotter than here and I thought ours was the worst...It's been right around 100 with so much humidity...
but wow, it's even hotter there--unbelievable! All we can do
is stay indoors and create..lol (Notice I didn't say do housework..lol)
    Hugs,
