Tuesday Tidings

Tidings of comfort ...

and joy ....

Another day has slipped away and it is time to hit the hay! I tried to organize teacher gifts tonite but am thinking I need another day for that. These gifts under the tree in the tv room are all wrapped with paper that I salvaged from shoeboxes. Is that taking recycling too far? I just can't seem to throw anything away these days. Waste not, want not.

Jingles has found a tree that is just the right size for her. She was trying to swat that apple above her head a minute before I took this photo. She loves Christmas because it brings so many new, shiny, exciting baubles for her to play with.

And, of course, her favorite song is "Jingles" all the way!

We only have a day and a half left of school before our Winter Break begins. I'm so excited. Then I will have time to do all the many things I'd like to do.
"Joy is a heart full and a mind purified by gratitude."
(Marietta McCarty)

Hope you are having a joyful day! Blessings, Tammy

  1. Hi Tammy, looks like you are almost ready for Christmas and even the cat is waiting for Santa to arrive! Loved the pictures of Jingles. I have been busy doing so much shopping and cookie baking that I have woefully neglected my blogging friends! Enjoy the last week before the holiday. The anticipation is part of the fun, isn't it! hugs, Debby

  4. Tammy I was just wondering the other day if I discussed how when I was a child we used white tissue paper to wrap gifts,if anyone out there would remember that. We wrapped them in the white paper and put oodles of Christmas stickers all over the paper. We did not have colored paper until years later. I think that is a pretty good idea that your recycled your shoebox paper. I think I will do that too. So enjoy visiting with you and having you stop by. Blessings

  5. My boys are really looking forward to the time off from school. That's nice that you do teacher gifts. My boys have too many teachers now for us to do gifts, but I always enjoyed getting together little goodies to hand out to their teachers when they were younger.

  6. Jingles is right where I want to be most of the time...snuggled up on the sofa. Unfortunately I don't get much sofa time.

  7. Tammy, that is such a cute photo of Jingles! Jingles must be very happy these days! I also like to recycle. I reuse the tissue paper that some stores wrap around clothing when I buy it. I collect so much of it!
Good luck with the teacher gifts.

  8. I was so glad you came by and said hi. I was reading some of your past posts and read that you recently went to Petra. My oldest son was in Jordan in May and visited Petra, along with the Dead Sea, and the Jordan River. He has some similar photos. He loved his trip there. He went with his school. I'm looking forward to following your blog.
    Blessings,

  11. Hello there! Greetings from Guatemala!
I think the wrapping paper is a great idea! that shows how clever and crafty you are, and those are the kind that are more special and personal.
    Love Jingles! :-))

  12. Jingles is adorable!!! We love cats! ♥

Glad you're getting everything in order - you've been very busy.

I too am looking forward to a full two week break from December 18 - January 4. Husband, daughter and I will all be off. A bit of travel at the beginning as we pick up husband's 17 year old daughter from O'Hare Airport on the night of the 20th, and he will be taking her back for a return flight on the morning of the 24th, but in between, we will have lots of family time. I'm thinking of saving a lot of the baking, etc. for the week after Christmas, since we still fully celebrate through New Years Day.

Wishing you a great remainder of the week! :)

  16. I don't think that you are taking recycling too far and in this day and age, all of us should watch out pennies. I, too, didn't wrap in the flamboyant manner that I used to in years past. After all, it just ends up in the trash, doesn't it?

Jingles is just adorable under the tree. I think you know how much I ♥ animals, and kitties☺ I bet she thinks that the tree was put out just for her pleasure.

  20. Hi, Tammy,
That Jingles is such a sweetheart!! I can tell she is enjoying the Christmas season. I think you are smart to recycle the tissue paper. My mom lived through the Great Depression. She even saved aluminum foil. Funny thing, I find myself doing the same thing if it is still good and can be used again. Enjoy your Winter Break. I am wishing a blessed holiday and much fun and relaxation for you and your family.
