Tuesday Tidings of Friendship and Joy

"Open your presents at Christmastime but be thankful year round for the gifts you receive." ~Lorinda Ruth Lowen

My good friend Leslie

made me this wonderful crocheted purse for Christmas.

I was so shocked when I opened it. During the beginning of this year, she had a pattern she was attempting for the first time and I helped her with reading all the symbols. From that pattern, she made a purse for herself that was black and taupe colored. I just never imagined she would give the pattern another go and actually make one for me. I just love brown and red together.

She also made me toffee.

My kids thought it was heavenly and wanted to know why I never make it. I have never attempted toffee before, but I've recently visited two other blogs that posted the recipe, so I am thinking I will have to give it a try. You can find the recipes here and here. Julie and Zuzu both have beautiful blogs to visit.

Christmas Day is drawing nearer. I hope that you are all enjoying the season and not getting too caught up in the hustle and bustle of it all. Happy Holiday Blessings, Tammy

  9. Tammy, what a special gift! Not only is it a beautiful purse, but the time she put into crocheting it for you speaks of how much you mean to her. I guess that's why I love handmade gifts so much. The postcard image you shared is precious. I hope that you and your family have a wonderful Christmas. Twyla

  11. It seems as though the days are really zooming by now! Still have a couple batches of fudge to make and a couple pair of curtains freshly laundered that need to be ironed and hung. The house is all festive but it seems like the last minute things are taking forever☺

The purse is GORGEOUS! That is a lot of work - she must really value you as a friend♥

  12. Hello, dear friend,
Your purse is so cute!! It reminds me of the ones we carried in the sixties (my era, you know)! You have some lovely friends there where you live which is such a blessing. The toffee looks delicious. I have never tried making it before. My mother used to make delicious peanut brittle. I try to not make too many sweets because I will eat them all (no willpower). Wishing for you a blessed Christmas as you celebrate with your family. Thank you for the kind comments you always leave for me. They are much appreciated! Vicki

  17. Pretty impressive crocheting for the first time. Really lovely pattern and the colors suite you. Now I am sure I want to learn crocheting. The toffee looks yummo and I would have that gone before that pic was even taken. Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow!

  18. OMG, Leslie's purse is beautiful!! Now, just like Melissa, I really want to learn to crochet. I am very impressed that she did such a great job on one of her first projects. I am thinking you are impressed as well. The toffee looks good. I have never tried it either. It is all I can do to get through the things that I have done 1000 times and know how to do!! HA!
It has been a wonderfully relaxing day here. Brunch with the family, and now a whole lot of nothing. Perfect day for me. Omar and I will walk in a little while, and that is it for me. NICE!! Hope your Christmas has been an enjoyable day for you!!
    Love,
    Renee
