I feel for you and the hot weather-the last few years here we have not had to deal with any 100 degrees in temps-so I am holding my breath for this summer. Your crochet is always amazing-hugs have a good week.
Kathykathyinozarkshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01644138355524729156noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8263927360240129050.post-82493366988921075522016-05-02T15:51:12.237+03:002016-05-02T15:51:12.237+03:00I hope it's just the oncoming heat that is mak...I hope it's just the oncoming heat that is making you feel a bit blue. But that won't happen till Thursday, and you have a few days before you turn into a puddle ;) We rarely get as hot as that here, but when it does get extremely hot and muggy, I close the curtains to block that glare and it does make it feel cooler inside. Maybe a visit to Ravelry for some crochet inspiration will help get your mind focused on something new. Or maybe a new book to curl up with. Love that little leaf you embellished. Will you put it in a frame, or hang it on your wall as is? Life is like that sometimes. It would be nice if it were always sweet and happy, but that's not real life and I want you to know that you have friends here that are willing to listen to you and help in any way that we can. 109 is REALLY hot. I don't think I've felt heat like that since we moved to the northwest. Very, very rarely does it get to 100 and even then there is no humidity so if you can get into the shade it's bearable. When it gets into the 90's I typically spend lots of time floating in the lake! That crocheted leaf is amazing. I've never seen anything like that before. I can only imagine how fragile to work with it was. I hope things are looking a bit brighter for you tonight. You have lots of friends who are here for you. I have never before seen a leaf trimmed in crochet and I think yours is beautiful! Also, your Happy May painting cheers me, You mentioned in your comment on my post that you have been trying to draw and paint every day, and I think that is wonderful. When I moved away from my stitching group in northern, California, nine years ago, the ladies each crocheted a square which one of them joined into a blanket. One in the group embroidered a square that says, "set aside some time each day to do your favorite things." Somehow their advice has helped me give myself permission even in difficult times to do what I can do each day to enjoy favorite things. Like you sometimes circumstances drag me into a slump, and maybe we need to rest there a bit too in order to gather strength to rise above the circumstances to be open to the joy of creation. At any rate, know that I am cheering you on and sending you extra hugs. Thanks for posting! xxxxxxxGracie Saylorhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09499163425742659172noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8263927360240129050.post-4886302528724101232016-05-02T02:59:52.085+03:002016-05-02T02:59:52.085+03:00Dearest Tammy,

Summer is my favorite and unlike most people here, I detest air conditioning, even when it's 90 out. I freeze most of the year, so I really look forward to the warmer days here.

That said, it's been a beautiful rainy weekend here. So many always complain about the rain, I hear it all the time, but I thought it was lovely because it didn't seem cold to me in the 50s all weekend, with no wind, it was quite lovely. Finally, the pneumonia is leaving my lungs and I have basically my old energy back. Besides doing my 4 mile walk this morning, I finished all of my garden planting and now we wait for our vegetables to begin growing for our relatively short growing season of the next several months.

Hope you have a happier week. The first step is to recognize how you're feeling.. then begin to figure out workarounds. I can't believe that's a word. But I think you need a nice crochet project! How about a cotton or silk shawl? I'm working on my white alpaca shawl and though I much prefer working with color, it will be nice to have a white one. You should google "sunday shawl by little bee". Someone in We Love Lucy II on Facebook showed theirs and I fell instantly in love and bought the pattern. Can't wait to start on it. I think I'm going to use bamboo and cotton yarn in brights. I turn on the ac, (I go out early in the day and water) and I close the curtains and I light some candles and I pretend it's winter out! I do much more handwork and sewing and cooking and if you get You Tube you would love the podcasts of fellow crocheters! The podcasts are like sitting and having tea/coffee with a good friend. I just love them and they are from all over the world. (I've started listing them on my blog) You would love the Knitting Expat although it is knitting and not crocheting but then...maybe it's time?
