Wonderful Weekend

 Hello everyone!
I hope all is well in your corner of the world.
We have just had the most awesome weekend weather-wise.  And did our very best to make the most of it.
Even though I've had a painful heel spur that has hindered my walking of late, I still pushed myself to get out there (4 times to be exact).  I didn't want to waste a moment being indoors. As you know, once things start heating up around here, there's no turning back, and being outdoors will be more torture than pleasure. My girlfriend tells me that I make Kuwait look good by the pictures that I take.  There's lots of litter and garbage in certain areas and piles of rubble in some places, but I don't want that to be my focus.  Do I want something done about it, yes.  But when I walk, my aim is to find those little spots of beauty.  Some people only see the negative but I want to focus on the positive.

Even Jingles has been stopping to smell the flowers.
 And basking in the sunshine.
Yesterday, hubby and I went out for lunch.

Then made a quick trip to the plant souk.
And today I went out for Indian food with a friend who is visiting from New Mexico.
Such a wonderful weekend that I hate for it to end.  It's so hard right now during the week to sit in an office with no natural light for 7 and a half hours when the weather is this gorgeous.
But the good news is that we have a holiday coming up.  Kuwait celebrates its National and Liberation Days on the 25th and 26th of February (which also happens to be my birthday).  Some schools have already closed but we are open tomorrow and Monday.  Over the past several years, we've chosen to travel during this time because the celebrations can get a little crazy which means we tend to get stuck at home (so as not to get stuck in traffic for hours on end).

We will be traveling to our usual destination.  And will be leaving a day early.

So things will be quiet around here yet again.  That seems to be the case more often than not lately.  Will be back in March.
Best wishes and blessings,

Winner and Walking

Others use random.org to generate giveaway results with ease.
For some reason I couldn't get it to work.  I did use it to type in the names and then randomize them.  But then copied the list to randomresult.com to pick the winner of my Grow Your Blog Giveaway. And the winner is:
ANITHA

Anitha was the 45th commenter on my post and this is what she had to say:

Hi Tammy, so glad to know you through GYB party.. Wow you've been to so many places! You have an amazing blog and you look absolutely gorgeous in saree:) I lived in Sharjah for the past 2 years.. Now enjoying my days lazily in India before moving to Abu Dhabi.. Looking forward to read all your posts. Thanks for stopping by my blog. Hugs:)

I find it so ironic that she actually lives on my side of the world. You can find Anitha at A Little Love Everyday.

Today the temperature reached just above 70 degrees and was absolutely gorgeous.

I am so thankful we live in an area with sidewalks as it makes it easy to get around.
Sending wishes your way for a wonderful day.

Happy Valentine's Day

Well, it happened again.  I've been away from here much longer than expected.  This past week I've been crocheting and baking so that I could spread a little love at school. Everyone is always so appreciative of a handmade, heartmade, homemade gift.
I've also been counting my blessings where weather is concerned.  It's been gorgeous here the past couple of days so walking has been a must.  We are watching the news now of the flooding in England -- the worst they've seen in 250 years.  And the East Coast of the States is again experiencing harsh winter storms.
I hope wherever you are that you are safe and warm and loved.
Blessings,

Happy!

When it comes to music and movies, I sometimes feel like I live under a rock.
This song was apparently released in November and I only heard it about 2 weeks ago.
Listening to it first thing in the morning helps set the mood for the day.  When I need a zap of energy and inspiration, I turn it on.  Sometimes I feel the need to listen to it over and over and over again.
Be that room without a roof!
And have a happy day!

A Great Start

I kicked off the month of February by meeting a friend at the monthly farmer's market known as Qout Market.  It has grown so much since we attended the very first one in November.
I came home with lots of organic and healthy products.
And as long as I bring lunch, everyone is happy.  (The black bean veggie burger was for me, Zack had the Japanese burger and that left the apple chicken for hubby.)
The weather was absolutely wonderful with an amazing cloud show the entire day.
It certainly made for a very entertaining walk this afternoon.
A friend at school invited me to join the above challenge.  You can read more about it at the Skinny Dip Society.  Its mission:

Women diving into life fully, undressing their souls, shedding the weight and celebrating each other on the journey. It’s time for a revolution of happy. wild. brave. free. ALIVE women. {It’s contagious.}

Our first challenge was to eat like a queen.
Basically, slowing down and enjoying the moment and the food.
I had pumpkin kebba, lemon tahini quinoa salad, Mama Ghanouj and beetroot hummus.
Everything was purchased from the market today, except for the quinoa salad that I made yesterday from a recipe found in The China Study Cookbook.
I even used the tomatoes from our balcony and boy were they good.
Here's to a healthy, happy month.
Happy February!
