Friday is family day around here as it is the only day we are all off at the same time.
Yesterday we headed over to 360 Mall for lunch. The boys chose The Meat Co.
While they got their meat fix, I was quite happy with my Rocca, Walnut & Apple salad ...
and bruschetta with feta and pesto with tomatoes and onions.
I like restaurants where the kitchen area is open. We could see all the prep work being done and our foot being plated.
This is a view of the restaurant from the ground floor where there are plants growing up the walls.
I spied this beautiful bloom and just had to get a close-up. My kids kept telling me I was acting like a tourist taking so many pictures. HA!
This is the main staircase in the middle of the mall. (Wonder where Scarlett and Rhett were hiding?)
I wish whoever cleans these windows would come clean mine!
Cleaning is what I've been doing all day today. And rearranging furniture. That drives my husband crazy! Hope you are all having a super Saturday. Peace & blessings, Tammy
Our friend, Mr. Luis, is here from Spain on business. Last nite we took him to a Kuwaiti restaurant. The area was apartments many, many years ago and has now been turned into restaurants. I was impressed with the interior of the restaurant. Beautiful paintings on the walls. This was the view from our table. Lots of artefacts from the past. It's nice to see history preserved. There was the perfect opportunity for a full moon photo between the brightly lit highrise buildings of Kuwait City. Even though my digital camera has a night picture mode, I just couldn't get rid of the glare. The sight truly was perfectly magnificent; however, my photo is not. Hope you have a perfectly fabulous Friday and a great weekend to come. Peace & blessings, Tammy
While Jingles watches the street from a safe distance. There are many who don't have that same luxury.
I've named all the street cats I feed. This one is White Kitty. He used to have a sister that came with him, but I haven't seen her in weeks. This is Baby, the sister of Sweet Kitty who is the mama of the kittens I rescued. I haven't seen Sweet Kitty since before she had her litter. Baby now has a hurt paw and the other morning, I had to literally rip a plastic bag off from around her stomach. How it got there so tight, I will never understand. She used to be so loving, but something must have happened as now she is a bit skittish. No Tail (I think it is obvious why she's named that). Poor thing! I do wonder what happened to her tail. Her meow is very throaty, like something happened to her vocal chords. This little guy is new and so cute ... and so hungry. I think he may be attempting to take over the territory. This one used to be the tom cat of the street, but he is so beat up now. I literally thought a couple of weeks ago that he was on death's doorstep, but he comes to our stairwell for respite from the heat, and does eat the food and drink the water I give him. Poor thing! I really wish I could do more. My husband thinks I'm a little crazy. We've been in our apartment for 10 years, and never in all those years did I have cats coming to me as they do now. I don't even know what prompted me to start feeding them, but it must have been divine guidance. Now I keep a bag of cat food in my car at all times. I believe God sent them to me because he knew that my heart would open up and I would do what I could. If I didn't do this one kindness, I would not have peace in my soul. Wishing you a day filled with sweet blessings and many kindnesses, Tammy
Happy White Wednesday! Hope you had a great start to your day. Remember these? (Yes, I'm still making them.) Yesterday I visited Yarni Gras and was quite surprised and happy to see her take on the idea. She and her daughter made the sweetest cards and gift baskets for teachers. Go here to see for yourself!
I spied a beautiful full moon tonite while watering plants on the balcony. It's getting close to bedtime around here! Have a great rest of the day! Blessings, Tammy
From helpless little creatures ... to sweet little munchkins. Kittens have all grown up. They haven't quite grown into their ears and their little faces are so messy with the canned food they are eating. They were climbing me like a tree the other day -- all 6 at one time, but my battery died before we could get a picture. We weren't able to find homes for them. A volunteer from PAWS was to take three to the shelter yesterday. That's all they have space for now, but the others will need to eventually go there if homes cannot be found. It's bittersweet.
Jingles doesn't know how lucky she is. I hope you are having a terrific Tuesday. (For some reason I thought it was Wednesday all day long :) Peace & blessings to one and all! Tammy
It's not every day that I have a giant chocolate chip cookie for dinner, but I must say, last nite, it was really, really worth it. (Thanks Sheryll!) I shared with the kids and friends at school so now the cookie is all gone. I find there is nothing better than a good old fashioned tomato sandwich sometimes. And with a tomato sandwich, you just gotta have some chips. Yum! We are having a dust storm today -- the light, powdery kinda dust that just hangs in the air. I bought a couple of magazines so am going to curl up with those and be inspired. Plus continue to crochet on this baby afghan I started a couple of weeks ago. It's taking longer than expected. I hope that all of you are having a quiet start to your week with time for some craftiness on the side. Peace & blessings, Tammy
When I was cleaning our tv room last week, I found this little book tucked away on a shelf. It's one that Sheryll gave me exactly two years ago. I've enjoyed reading through it and just love the little message above.
Today Sheryll surprised me with this. No, it's not my birthday. That was 3 months ago. But we never were able to make special plans for breakfast, so she delivered this to school today. It's a giant chocolate chip cookie and it is divine. Guess what I'm having for dinner along with a very large glass of milk?
Wishing you a day that's filled with many of life's sweet surprises. Go out a spread a little of your own brand of kindness. Peace & blessings, Tammy
The dust is not quite as bad as predicted. For now it remains high up in the sky. The sun doesn't shine quite so bright, which means temps aren't quite so hot. Earlier in the week, we got up to 113 degrees. Yikes! It's only May. My moss roses are the only blooms that continue to do well in the heat and dust. They greet me each morning in all their pink sweetness and close by noontime. Found these lovely images for crafting (details on where they came from are at the bottom of the graphic). I am in the process of cutting up cereal boxes for tags. We go through at least 2 boxes of cereal a week, so tags and gift totes are a great way to make use of something that would normally be tossed. Hope you are having a beautiful, colorful, productive weekend! Peace & Blessings, Tammy
Last nite I went out to eat with friends. Neither of them had been to the restaurant before. It's my favorite place for Indian food. Isn't time with friends always well spent? Wishing you a wonderful weekend with family and friends. Friendship blessings, Tammy
